Our Story

“ My father was exporting Japanese pearls, South-Sea pearls and Lake Biwa pearls from Kobe, Japan in the late sixties.  Multi-nationals were all in related jewelry businesses and we all grew up side-by-side with pearls and gems.  That’s how pearls, precious-stones and I became the best of  friends.   I also love classic ,  timeless designs as these  will one day become family heirlooms.  By combining antiques, precious stones, carvings , jade and unique pieces found in markets and trade-fairs, we hope to create new dimensions in jewelry right  here in modern metropolis Shanghai, still  affectionately called the Pearl of the Orient.  .                                                                                                  ( Lilli Makinson )

Combining design elements  from Japan,  China ,  the Far-East , Europe , Middle-East and the four corners of the globe piece together a new concept in jewelry  .  .  Here at "  Lilli's Shanghai  "  genuine pearls,  precious stones and  antiques can   be worn  both casually  and  formally and still manage to be affordable to each and everyone one of us  who strive to be as individual as our jewelry creations.            

Our Products

At " Lilli’s Shanghai  " ,  you will find  hand-picked and exquisite  Pearls: Tahitian blacks, white South Sea pearls,  natural gold-colored  pearls,  and multi-colored fresh-water pearls all complimented with imported clasps and fittings.   Many are fashioned into  a  ‘ one-of-a-kind  ’  jewelry using that one special piece sourced  locally or discovered in trade fairs and country markets.  We carry an extensive range of precious  stones,  Burmese Jadeite, antique Kingfisher  feather jewelry,  carved antique jade and  both ethnic and antique embroidery.  We also work extensively with sterling silver to create our own product  line of silver spoons , men’s jewelry and gifts.

Lilli designs  her own signature line of fabric fashion accessories using Chinese silks , Japanese fabric, cashmere and genuine leather , all designed and produced in our own factory.  We have been producing  lady’s hand-bags and totes,  pouches,  Mandarin silk jackets, scarves, quilts, covered albums and stationery, men’s accessories, baby-ware and even pet goods using the very best that this area has to offer for over  12 years.

Our in-house goldsmiths can re-design and re-vamp your un-used jewelry.  We  help you create that special design you loved but never thought possible.  Re-forming out-dated and un-used  jewelry at "Lilli’s  Shanghai  "  is popular with both our local clients and  from over-seas.  Enjoy a cup of coffee while your cherished jewelry is polished,  fixed ,  revamped  or turned into a stunning new piece!!  Free estimates and design advice is always available from our experienced staff.

Our Services

With five locations in Shanghai and Beijing, shopping at " Lilli’s Shanghai  " is convenient as well as fun. Parking is available at all locations. We have our own 1,000 sq. meter production center and warehouse in central Jing'an district with convenient access from all popular hotels.

Our Jing-an  Production Center wholesales  to  5-star hotels in Shanghai and other  major cities.  Pakowa Fashions, our  in-house " fashion - division "  is run by  a pair of dedicated Japanese designers and is exporting garments and accessories mainly to Japan.
